Babcock to Debut the Babcock Immersive Training Experience at CANSEC 2025

Babcock is launching the Babcock Immersive Training Experience, known as BITE, for the first time in Canada on May 28 and 29 during CANSEC 2025, the nation’s leading defence, security, and emerging technology event.

BITE is a technology-driven platform offering the Canadian Armed Forces and emergency services personnel a new way of learning quickly and effectively, while also preparing them for the physical and cognitive stresses of real-life operations.

“In the Army, we often say ‘train as you fight’ or ‘train as you operate’ because your hardest day should be in training, not in real operations,” explains Rob Marois, Retired Canadian Army veteran and Babcock’s Senior Business Development Manager – Land. “BITE provides that training by bridging the gap between classroom learning and live operations.”

Replicating operationally accurate scenarios, such as realistic frontline battle experiences, BITE includes:

  • tailored soundscapes,
  • seismic simulation,
  • climate control,
  • generated aromas, and
  • visual stimuli.

BITE serves as a ‘safe-to-try,’ ‘train-to-win’ environment by delivering instant and objective feedback that users can assess and reflect on before immediately redoing the training. This realistic and repeatable training environment accelerates skill acquisition and maximizes skill retention, ultimately reducing the time and resources needed to invest in training.

“BITE is only limited by users’ imaginations and can be completely tailored to a client’s requirements,” says Marois. “This hyper-realistic system is adaptable to both current and future theatre-specific mission training requirements. It can be deployed anywhere in Canada or even overseas, supporting missions like Operation REASSURANCE with the Canadian-led NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia.”

Designed alongside subject matter experts and academic partners to leverage cutting-edge technology that users can easily update; BITE’s system ensures a future-proof solution for modern training needs.

Babcock is showcasing BITE at its CANSEC booth #113. CANSEC attendees can experience a 20-minute BITE demonstration by completing the ‘Contact Us’ form in the Training section of babcockcanada.ca.

Following its CANSEC debut, Babcock has partnered with Invest Ottawa to host BITE at their research and development complex, AreaX.0. If you cannot attend CANSEC but would like to book a BITE demonstration in Ottawa, please also complete the online ‘Contact Us’ form.

“We’re really looking forward to bringing the Babcock Immersive Training Experience to Area X.O with Invest Ottawa,” adds Marois.  “Area X.O’s forward-thinking, technology-driven space is a perfect setting for what we’re doing, and collaborating with Invest Ottawa strengthens our connection to Ottawa’s local innovation community. Working with them will be a great way to showcase this game-changing training technology to Canadian, NATO and international Defence and Security government organizations and industry.”

“Our collaboration with Babcock reflects Invest Ottawa’s commitment to supporting global companies as they thrive in our city,” says Jens-Michael Schaal, Vice President, Global Expansion, Invest Ottawa. “The BITE initiative is a new approach to operational readiness for defence and emergency response, contributing to Canada’s national security and leadership in mission-critical training. Babcock’s partnership with Area X.O for this project also highlights how companies can leverage Ottawa’s defence innovation ecosystem to drive impactful outcomes. We’re proud to support Babcock in this initiative, and we will continue our support to accelerate their success.”
