Every year on June 21, Canadians come together to recognize and celebrate the fundamental contributions, history, art, traditions, and cultures of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.
As a corporate citizen doing business within Canada and operating on several Indigenous traditional territories and homelands, Babcock Canada (Babcock) is committed to building meaningful and mutually beneficial relations with Indigenous peoples, communities, and businesses. Across all our lines of work, Babcock strives to recognize and include the culture, heritage, and achievements of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples every day, year-round.

Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations
In 2020, we adopted the Canadian Council for Indigenous Businesses’ (CCIB’s) Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) certification program. The PAIR framework not only guides the development of Babcock’s policies and programs but also serves as a truth and reconciliation framework to maximize Indigenous participation within our operations.

Last year, Babcock was delighted to achieve Bronze level status within the PAIR certification program. Bronze level status indicates that Babcock is committed to fostering positive relationships with Indigenous communities throughout Canada.
Babcock’s PAIR committee and the wider organization are diligently working to continue expanding and strengthening our relationships with Indigenous communities while delivering our Bronze level commitments and working towards PAIR Silver certification.
Workforce Skills Development
In 2023, Babcock committed to annually invest $150,000 into Indigenous skills development training.
This year, Babcock was proud to support several students across various schools through funded bursaries and grants. These awards were given to Indigenous students who demonstrated strong academic achievement.
This year’s recipients are:
- Adrian, Camosun College
- Brenden, Camosun College
- Jenna, British Columbia Institute of Technology
- Nikita, Red River College Polytech
- Noah, University of Victoria

Congratulations to all the students!
Babcock is proud to support the development of Canada’s next generation of engineers, technologists, and business leaders.
Supporting the Communities in Which we Live and Work

Babcock was delighted to support several events throughout the year, in the communities in which we live and work:
For National Day for Truth and Reconciliation members of the Babcock team attended the Songhees Nation South Island Powwow. Through song and dance, the South Island Powwow was an opportunity to recognize Survivors and their families in the spirit of reconciliation. We look forward to returning to the South Island Powwow in September 2026.
Babcock was also delighted to attend the 2026 Odawa Native Friendship Centre Powwow, Ottawa’s longest running celebration of Indigenous culture, community, and connection.
Babcock is committed to supporting the communities in which we live and work; however, our efforts are not limited to our immediate areas of operations but extended to fostering positive relationships with Indigenous communities throughout Canada.
Expanding our Supply Chain
In the CCIB’s Supply Change Program, Babcock has been identified as an Indigenous Procurement Champion. This achievement acknowledges Babcock’s leadership and commitment to building mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous businesses and partners, to promote economic reconciliation.
As part of our efforts to strengthen our supply chain inclusion, Babcock has set a target to increase spending on goods and services from Indigenous-owned businesses to 3.9% by 2030. To date, we are increasing Indigenous participation in our supply chain and are on track to meet our goals.
On National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize, honour, and celebrate the rich cultures, unique heritage, and vital contributions of Indigenous peoples across Canada.
