Babcock Canada is pleased to announce that it has signed on as an ‘Employer Partner’ of Canada Company’s new Military Employment Transition Spouse (METSpouse) Program.

The METSpouse Program is an employer network, administered by Canada Company and Military Family Services, where partnering employers are aware of the inherent employability of military spouses and explore accommodation for this mobile workforce.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA – Jan 26, 2017 – Babcock is pleased to announce that the inaugural year of the STEM Spotlight Awards concluded today with industry leaders, government officials, and post-secondary students coming together to celebrate the young minds that are driving BC’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) industries forward at the STEM Spotlight Awards Gala.

Following six weeks of submissions and subsequent judging, the inaugural STEM Spotlight Awards will come to an end on Thursday, January 26th, 2017. The awards will take place at Waterview Vancouver from 11 AM – 2 PM. Hosted by Canadian Journalist and Global National Anchor Robin Gill the awards will highlight and celebrate five finalist submissions and announce the winning entry that will be awarded a $20,000 cash prize.

Babcock Canada today announced an investment of $800,000 into Camosun College’s TRADEMark of Excellence campaign. The contribution, the largest to Camosun’s campaign to date, will support next generation specialized equipment in the college’s new future-focussed Interaction Lab.

Babcock Canada today launched a new initiative from its Canadian Skills Development Program that offers BC post-secondary individuals the opportunity to win $20,000 for their creative solutions to real-world issues. The five industry challenges of the STEM Spotlight Awards were unveiled at an event at Science World in Vancouver this morning. BC students and individuals between the ages of 18 – 28 have until December 2nd to offer solutions to these challenges; the winning entry will be awarded the $20,000 cash prize.

A team of young engineering students from Montreal’s École de Technologie Supérieure (É.T.S.) university won the Outstanding Innovation Award at this summer’s international submarine competition in Gosport UK. This is just what Babcock Canada is doing by sponsoring students from Montreal’s École de Technologie Supérieure at IMarEST’s third biennial European International Submarine Races (eISR 2016). From July 6th to the 15th in Gosport, England, they will compete against 11 other international teams of students each challenged to design, build and race human-powered submarines.
