Last week, Babcock representatives celebrated the remarkable achievements of Women in Defence and Security (WiDS) and the powerful community they’ve built at the 20th Anniversary Celebration and WiDS Awards Breakfast.
Babcock is particularly proud of our 2025 WiDS Remarkable Leader Award recipient, Marija Kopac, Weapons Engineering–Team Lead!
Marija began her Babcock career as a Jr. Weapons Engineer nearly 15 years ago, supporting our Victoria In-Service Support Contract (VISSC) from the beginning. Through her outstanding performance, she has moved through various positions, leading to her current role as the Waterfront Engineering Weapons Team manager.
In fact, Marija has spent most of her technical career working with the Victoria Class submarine’s (VCS) Weapons Handling and Discharge System, having spent time in the UK training with the original equipment manufacturer to act on their behalf. Marija is recognized within Canada’s submarine enterprise as one of the most skilled and experienced VCS weapons engineers.
Marija is also recognized by Babcock as a top performer, not only technically but through her application of Babcock’s ‘Purpose and Principles’ as she leads and mentors her team.
Congratulations Marija! Thank you for your positive contribution to Babcock and its impact on Canada’s defence and security industry.
Finally, a big thank you to the passionate, driven, and hardworking WiDS volunteers whose contributions empower, elevate, and inspire the next generation of leaders from coast to coast to coast.
Babcock is a proud WiDS sponsor and committed to supporting the development of Canada’s next generation of engineers, technologists, and business leaders.
