Presented by Babcock, in partnership with the Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre (EMFRC) the Victoria Class Cup was launched in 2019. The annual hockey fundraising event is designed to bring members of the defence community and their families together in support of the EMFRC.
About the EMFRC
In 1991, the Department of National Defence (DND) officially recognized the important contributions military families make to the Canadian Forces. DND established the Military Family Support Program and authorized the creation of 32 Military Family Resource Centres (MFRCs) – including the EMFRC – at each Canadian Forces installation.
CFB Esquimalt, located in Victoria, B.C., serves the Royal Canadian Navy and is the 3rd largest base in Canada. It is home to the Pacific Fleet, one of two Naval Formations. Like all MFRC’s, the EMFRC has one responsibility: to address the needs of the military family.
The EMFRC, plays a critical role at CFB Esquimalt. They provide an array of services to military members and their families, including counselling, supports for children of military members, recreation and fitness facilities, events for the community, summer camps, a plethora of resources for housing, finances, and deployments, and so much more.

Victoria-Class Cup History
In 2019, the Babcock Blues faced off against the Senior Tritons for the first Victoria Class Cup fundraiser. With a final score of 8-2, the Senior Tritons proudly claimed the inaugural title of Victoria Class Cup champions. Not only did the event bring the community together, but it also raised $5,500 for the EMFRC!
In 2022, after a two-year pause due to COVID-19, the Babcock Blues were back and filled with determination to take on the MARPAC Selects for the 2nd annual battle of the Victoria Class Cup! With forty seconds left in the game the Babcock Blues advanced the lead to 4-3 and ultimately won the second Victoria Class Cup. Babcock was delighted to donate $5,000 to the MFRC and 150 tickets to their Military Family Appreciation Night hockey game in partnership with the Victoria Royals Western Hockey League team.
