Babcock Launches Team INSPIRE to Deliver Next-Generation Communications for the Canadian Armed Forces

Babcock Canada (Babcock) a global leader in strategic radio communications, has established a purpose-built Canadian industry network to provide the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) with a modern, resilient, and advanced strategic communications capability that will position Canadian technology for global export.

Named, Team INSPIRE, the Babcock-led, Canadian-enabled expert group, consisting of Nautel, CCX Technologies, Evertz, WADE Antenna, Titan ÆX, and COWI, aims to deliver modernized high-frequency (HF), low-frequency (LF), and very-low-frequency (VLF) strategic communications capabilities to ensure secure and reliable connectivity wherever, whenever, and however they are needed.

“Team INSPIRE represents the best of Canadian innovation, backed by Babcock-developed software and global experience. Together, we are delivering future-ready communications capabilities that can strengthen Canada’s defence and supports sovereignty at home and abroad,” said Babcock CEO Tony March.

As Canada continues its “Build Canadian First” defence framework, Team INSPIRE is well positioned to play a critical role in expanding domestic capability and capacity. By leveraging Canadian talent, expertise, and innovation, Team INSPIRE will deliver a solution designed in Canada, for Canada.

At the heart of Team INSPIRE’s offering for Canada is Babcock’s integration approach which leverages Babcock’s Intelligent Network and Serial Protocol Interface for Radio Equipment (INSPIRE) control system software.

Developed by Babcock, the INSPIRE solution is currently deployed across Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, providing:

  • Seamless integration of legacy, current, and emerging systems, providing opportunities to adopt sovereign technology as they develop
  • Support for MIL-STD and STANAG protocols
  • Compatibility with the latest software-defined radios and modem technologies
  • Flexibility to enable mission-specific waveform solutions

Built on a scalable and interoperable architecture, INSPIRE ensures the CAF can rapidly adapt to evolving operational demands and maintain a technological edge in complex environments.

Each Team INSPIRE partner brings specialized knowledge and high-value technical expertise, contributing to a collaborative, national capability that supports operational readiness, economic growth, and long-term defence resilience:
