International Women in Engineering Day

Hosted by the Women’s Engineering Society, International Women in Engineering Day is held annually to promote the incredible work that women engineers across the globe are doing.

To celebrate today, we are highlighting Sophie, Configuration Management Lead – Product Configuration Information, here at Babcock Canada.

Sophie joined the Babcock team just over a year ago, and since then has proven to be invaluable to our team and has embraced each challenge with an open mind.

As Sophie’s onboarding progressed, she was temporarily moved to the Integrated Logistics (ILS) Engineering Team to support ongoing development of the Pennant Auxilium Toolset, a database used to support deployed assets throughout their lifecycle and ensure product obligations are met following its release to a customer.

Although this effort was outside the regular Configuration Management specialist duties, Sophie took on the task in earnest and worked with the ILS Engineering Team and Pennant to deliver the project to its fullest intent.

Within this year, Sophie is also on track to have achieved full certification in EIA-649C Configuration Management Standard from an external accreditation organization.

In culmination of the success of the project and Sophie’s drive and competency, Babcock was thrilled to promote her to Configuration Management Specialist Lead this past spring.

In this new position, Sophie is supporting work process and improvement initiatives for configuration management (CM).

From the very start, Sophie has demonstrated a strong interest in, and understanding of, the configuration management and change control discipline. Sophie’s technical skill, drive to produce quality product, and willingness to take on challenging tasks has proven a valuable addition to the Babcock Canada CM and ILS Engineering Teams.
