Babcock Canada selected as a top employer in the National Capital Region

January 29, 2020 – Babcock is delighted to announce that for the second consecutive year, we have been selected as one of the top employers in the National Capital Region.

Mediacorp Canada Inc., organizers of the annual Top 100 Employers program, annually reviews some of best companies, across multiple sectors, which set the standard for doing business in Canada.

Any employer with its head office or principal place of business in the National Capital Region was eligible to be considered for the award. Those who did were evaluated by the following eight criteria: Physical Workplace; Work Atmosphere & Social; Health, Financial & Family Benefits; Vacation & Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training & Skills Development; and Community Involvement.

Each organization was measured against employers within their respective industries to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.

Babcock offers an exceptional working environment for its employees. The company was selected based on the above criteria, with the following items setting us apart:

  • Supporting employee development for individuals at various stages of their career, including tuition subsidies for current employees, mentoring opportunities, and paid internships and co-op placements for students and recent grads
  • Babcock Canada provides new mothers with maternity and parental leave top-up payments (up to 80 per cent of salary for up to 30 weeks) and offers parental top-up for fathers and adoptive parents (to 80 per cent of salary for up to 15 weeks)
  • Babcock Canada helps keep employees engaged and connected through a number of social events throughout the year, including company picnics, golf tournaments, charity bike rides, Jersey Day, an Easter egg hunt, Ugly Christmas Sweater Day and Family Day celebrations

“Babcock is proud to be recognized as one of the top employers within the Ottawa-Gatineau metropolitan area. This achievement would not have been possible without our company-wide commitment to creating an environment that supports employees inside the workplace and out.

At Babcock, we are always trying to develop our corporate culture and values to ensure we stay true to the eight guiding principles that continue to make Babcock an industry leader.”

Catherine O’Reilly, Vice President of Corporate Services at Babcock Canada.
