Matthew Crawley

Matthew attended the University of Ottawa where he earned his Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree in Mechanical Engineering after receiving his Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Aerospace Engineering from Ryerson Polytechnic University.
Matthew joined Babcock in 2019 bringing deep expertise and strategic vision in defence, marine, aerospace, and government procurement, making him a trusted advisor in complex, high-stakes environments. He serves as Vice President of Aviation & Land leading national operations and business development across the company’s aerial firefighting, air ambulance, and land-based service portfolios.
Prior to joining Babcock, Matthew gained over two decades of leadership in both public and private sectors, holding various executive appointments within the Federal Government, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), including Director General of the Marine Services and Small Vessels Sector, managing national programs to support departments such as the Canadian Coast Guard, National Defence, and Transport Canada. His additional roles included Executive Director National Shipbuilding Strategy overseeing multi-billion-dollar fleet renewal initiatives, and Director of Strategic Systems for the Receiver General for Canada.
Before joining PSPC, Matthew spent nine years as a systems engineer with the Department of National Defence, supporting several army and air force programs and before joining the Public Service, he began his career working for Bombardier Aerospace, De Havilland.
