Association of British Columbia Marine Industries’ Business Opportunities Conference 2021

Babcock is pleased to announce that we will be attending ABCMI’s Business Opportunities Conference that will take place November 2nd to the 3rd at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

The conference will span two full days and feature 20 leading marine organizations, as well as an array of interesting speakers and panels addressing the full scope of the marine sector. With over 200 delegates expected to attend, this event will present numerous opportunities to connect with other companies, provincial and federal governments, academia, and other industry stakeholders.

About Jack Macdonald  
Jack MacDonald holds a Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Engineering (Chemical and Materials) from the Royal Military College of Canada and a diploma in Project Management from the University of British Columbia. He has held the Project Management Professional designation since 2019.  

Jack served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years, serving in eight different warships located in both Victoria and Halifax, as well as postings to Kingston and Ottawa. Career highlights include being the Marine Systems Engineering Officer in HMCS Montreal and strategic staff roles within the Chief of Force Development and Naval Staff Headquarters, before transitioning to a Public Service position with the Material Group at National Defence Headquarters.

In 2017, Jack assumed the position of Deputy Project Manager (Ship) for the Canadian Surface Combatant project, where he led the development of the technical requirements and subsequently the evaluation and selection of the design team for Canada’s largest defence procurement.  

Jack first joined Babcock in March 2020 as Head of Innovation and Technology and assumed his additional role in the spring of 2021.
