Babcock named a top employer in the National Capital Region

Babcock is excited to announce that for the third consecutive year, we have been selected as one of the top employers in the National Capital Region.

The National Capital Region’s Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. This special designation recognizes the top employers in the Ottawa-Gatineau region that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.

Each year, the editors at Canada’s Top 100 Employers evaluate employers throughout the National Capital Region using the following criteria: Physical Workplace; Work Atmosphere and Social; Health, Financial and Family Benefits; Vacation and Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training & Skills Development; and Community Involvement.

Employers are then compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward thinking programs for employees. The employers who place within the Top 100 ranking have gone the extra distance in helping employees balance work commitments with new demands on their families and personal time.

During these unprecedented times, Babcock is committed to continuing to support its employees as we safely adapt to the new ways of working that have evolved over that past year. The company was named a top employer based on the above criteria, with the following items helping set us apart:

  • Babcock Canada helps employees balance work and their personal lives with a variety of flexible work arrangements and up to 10 paid wellness days per year, which can be used for a variety of personal reasons including medical appointments, mental health, and illness.
  • Support ongoing development for individuals at various stages of their career, including tuition subsidies for current employees, leadership development for experienced individuals, and paid internships and co-op placements for students and recent graduates.
  • Provides new mothers with maternity and parental leave top-up payments (up to 80 per cent of salary for up to 30 weeks) and offers parental top-up for fathers and adoptive parents (up to 80 per cent of salary for up to 15 weeks)

“At Babcock, we believe that employees who know that management is genuinely concerned about them as a whole person, and not just as an employee, are more productive, more satisfied and more fulfilled. Satisfied employees means satisfied customers making us leaders in our field in the delivery of engineering support solutions in Canada.”

– Mike Whalley, President of Babcock Canada.
