Babcock employees raise money for Sleep in Heavenly Peace

November 4, 2020

Babcock is a proud supporter of a recent employee-led community outreach event held at our Winnipeg office on September 30th. Employees hosted a lively, in-person auction, where they were able to raise $2,838. Funds raised will go towards supporting Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a charity comprised of over 200 chapters and thousands of volunteers across North America that are dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds in order to prevent disadvantaged children from sleeping on couches, blankets and floors.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a charity that builds beds for disadvantaged children.

The Winnipeg chapter is new to the city and hoping to gain awareness within the community. In the city of Winnipeg alone, an estimated 13,000 children sleep on the floor without a proper bed and with the current environment we find ourselves in, it is more important than ever to help kids get a proper night sleep. These funds will be applied to the Cadorath Build, where an additional 11 beds will be built.

“We are incredibly grateful to Babcock for helping us on our mission to get new beds to more Winnipeg children and families who need them. These 11 beds will be providing a sense of dignity to each family and a sense of self-worth to each child, which will resonate for years to come. Your efforts will be changing lives, and that’s something to be very proud of. Thank you for helping our Winnipeg communities.”

Jim Thiessen, Winnipeg Chapter President of Sleep in Heavenly Peace
