Babcock Canada awarded ‘Co-op Employer of the Year’ by the University of Victoria

Babcock Canada is proud to have been selected as the University of Victoria’s 2018 Co-op Employer of the year for the 50+ employee category. This award recognizes employers that offer extraordinary, hands-on co-op experiences. Students undertaking co-op terms with Babcock are able to gain real-world experience while working on diverse projects that span a multitude of disciplines. Each student is provided with a mentor that is there to help support their professional development during their term. This hands on learning approach is greatly valued by students.

Babcock is proud of the strong relationship with the University of Victoria that has been established over many years. We are committed to continuing our support of its Co-operative education program and investing in the next generation of skilled talent. Co-op programs like those at the University of Victoria are an excellent example of how academia and industry can come together to prepare the next generation of student to enter the workforce.

Babcock’s Co-op Program

Last year, thirty three students across Canada completed their co-op work terms with Babcock. In addition, twenty one of our permanent hires last year had previously completed a co-op term with the organization. Andres Agresot, the University of Victoria’s 2018 Co-op Student of the Year for the Business Co-op program, recently completed a work term with Babcock.

Co-op has created meaningful turning points in my academic experience, career development and personal growth.

Babcock continues to support the development of the next generation of young leaders through its co-op program, the establishment of partnerships with universities across Canada, and supporting student led initiatives like the human-powered submarine teams at both the University of Victoria and the École de Technologie Supérieur in Montreal.

Babcock is also currently developing a new co-op program that will allow students to complete a series of work terms in different departments within the business.
