Babcock Canada welcomes the British High Commissioner to its submarine support facility in Victoria, B.C.

VICTORIA, BC | Nov 22, 2018 – British High Commissioner, Susan le Jeune d’Allegeershecque, and British Consul General, Nicole Davison, were warmly welcomed to Babcock Canada’s west coast facilities by President, Mike Whalley and VP Submarines, Ryan Hawes. Situated at the Government of Canada owned and operated Esquimalt Graving Dock compound, Babcock has established a thriving submarine support centre that continues to positively impact British Columbia’s growing marine industry.

“We were delighted to host a visit by the British High Commissioner and British Consul General to our submarine support facility in the Esquimalt Graving Dock complex, located in Victoria, B.C.,” said Babcock Canada President, Mike Whalley.

“During a tour of the Victoria Class submarine, HMCS CORNER BROOK, we were able to show the High Commissioner and Consul General the complexity and quality of work being undertaken and the extent of capability upgrades being fitted during the Extended Docking Work Period,” continued Mike Whalley.

“We also explained the value to the local B.C. economy from the many hundreds of skilled Babcock personnel who have been recruited locally to support this project, the support we provide to local academic institutions, and the investments we have made such as the $800k donation to Camosun College to establish the Babcock Canada Interaction Lab.”
